자신이 공부하는 모습을 실시간 인터넷 방송으로 보여주는, 이른바 ‘공방’이라는 한국의 브이로그들이 중국 시험 준비생들에게 인기를 끌고 있다. 동트기 전에 일어나 카페인의 힘을 빌려가며 늦은 밤까지 공부에 전념하는 모습에 경외감을 느껴 그대로 따라 하는 경우가 늘어나고 있다 한다.

Korean studying vlogs, called ‘Gongbang’, referring to livestreamed videos where vloggers engaged in long stretches of their studying, is gaining popularity among Chinese students. They were in awe that Korean girls wake up before the break of dawn with the power of caffeine and stay dedicated themselves to studying, so that many Chinese students started to follow suit.

 

싱가포르 매체 TODAY에 따르면, 중국 여학생들 사이에서 ‘韩女学习法(한국 여성 공부 방법·Korean girl study method)’라는 제목으로 유명해진 ‘공방’ 동영상의 엄격한 공부 일상을 모방하는 유행이 일고 있다. 매일 10~12시간 ‘공방’을 틀어놓고 함께 공부하는 열성팬층을 이미 구축했다.

They have already amassed a devoted fan base who spend 10 to 12 hours every day studying together in the ‘gongbang.’

 

중국 여성 네티즌들에게 ‘动力姐(파워 언니·Power Sister)’라는 별명을 얻은 공방 브이로거는 의대생으로, 하루 평균 12시간 공부하는 것으로 이름나 있고, ‘发疯姐(미친 언니·Insane Sister)로 불리는 공무원 시험 준비생은 하루에 단어 3000개와 근대사 책 한 권을 외우는 ‘미친 짓’으로 유명하다. 그런가 하면 한 로스쿨 학생은 일단 들어가면 최소한 10시간이 지나야 문을 열어주는 스터디 카페에 스스로 자신을 감금한 채 공부하는 모습을 보여줘 혀를 내두르게 한다. 이들의 공통점 중 하나는 항상 아이스 아메리카노를 곁에 두고 있다는 것. 하루 종일 말똥말똥 깨어 있기 위해서다. “그들 몸속에는 피가 아니라 카페인이 흐르고 있을 것”이라는 농담이 나올 정도다. 중국 수험생들이 경이롭게 여기는 건 이뿐만 아니다. 공부를 위해 자신의 외모와 건강을 결코 저버리지 않는 것에 또 한 번 놀란다.

The ’gongbang’ vlogger, nicknamed Power Sister from Chinese female netizens, medical school student, is well-known for studying for an average of 12 hours a day. The nickname Insane Sister, preparing for the civil service examination, is renowned for her extraordinary abilities of memorizing 3,000 words and a modern history book in a day. Meanwhile, a law school student voluntarily imprison herself in a study café where it opened the door after at least 10 hours, and showing her studying, which makes them be astonished. One thing that they have in common is that they always have an iced Americano by their side. This is to stay awake all day. There is even a joke that “What flows in Korean girls isn’t blood, but caffeine.” The reason Chinese students deem awesome is not just because of it, Korean girls never forsake their looks and health for their studying.

 

빡빡하고 고된 공부 일정에도 규칙적으로 헬스장에 다니며 몸을 단련하고, 엄격한 피부 관리로 흠잡을 데 없는 메이크업을 유지하면서 옷도 멋진 것으로 입는 등 흐트러진 모습을 전혀 보이지 않는다. 각종 비타민 칵테일을 꼬박꼬박 복용해 건강관리에도 만전을 기한다. 중국 네티즌들은 그들의 혹독한 공부 방식에 빗대 이 영양제들에 ‘돌연사 방지 패키지’라는 별명을 붙였다. 중국 소셜 미디어에는 흉내 내보자는 취지로 ‘质疑韩女 理解韩女 成为韩女’라는 유행어가 나돌고 있다. ‘한국 여성에게 물어보고, 그들을 이해하고, 한국 여성처럼 돼보자’라는 뜻이다. 중국의 한 콘텐츠 전문가는 틱톡에 “한국 공방 브이로거들이 중국 시험 준비생들의 정신적 지도자가 되고 있다”는 글을 올렸다.

Despite their tight and intense study schedules, they train their bodies by hitting the gym regularly, maintaining impeccable makeup with strict skin care, and wear nice dresses, so that they never be disheveled. They also take lots of different vitamin cocktails regularly to take care of their health. Chinese netizens nicknamed these supplements ‘sudden death prevention package’ in reference to their rigorous study methods. In Chinese social media, the popular phrase ‘质疑韩女 理解韩女 成为韩女’ is booming to imitate and follow Korean girls, which means let’s ask Korean women, understand them, and become like Korean women. A Chinese contents expert posted on TikTok, “Korean gongbang vloggers is becoming the spiritual leaders of Chinese exam preparers.”
