Applause poured in for a young man who seemed shameless

 

 
 
  한 젊은이가 나이 드신 아버지께 근사한 저녁을 대접하려고 고급 레스토랑으로 모시고 갔다. 그런데 아버지가 식사를 하는 동안 계속 음식을 셔츠와 바지에 흘리셨다. 다른 손님들이 그 모습을 보고는 소리가 들릴 정도로 역겹다는 반응을 보였다. 그런데도 아들은 태연했다. 엉망인 상황에 아랑곳하지 않고 아버지와 쾌활한 대화를 이어갔다. 아버지가 식사를 마치자 아들은 조심스레 화장실로 모시고 갔다. 그러고는 아버지 옷에 묻은 음식 부스러기를 닦아내고 얼룩을 지운 후에 머리를 빗겨드리고 안경을 똑바로 씌워드렸다. 이들이 화장실에서 나오자 레스토랑의 모든 손님이 조용한 침묵 속에 그들을 지켜보고 있었다. 아들이 카운터로 가서 계산을 한 뒤 밖으로 나가려던 참에 나이 지긋한 한 손님이 큰소리로 소리쳤다.
 
  A young man took his father to a fancy restaurant in order to treat his elderly father to a fabulous dinner. Then, his father kept dropping food on his shirt and trousers during a meal. Other patron reacted with audible disgust after they looked at the happening, but the son kept his calm. He gave no attention to the mess and kept a lively conversation with his father. When the father finished eating, the son attentively took him to the restroom. Then, he wiped the food particles and removed the stains, and combed his hair and fix his glasses firmly. When they got out of the restroom, all the patrons in the restaurants were watching them in dead silent. When the son went to the counter to settle the bill and left the restaurant, one old gentlemen in the restaurant shouted loudly.
 
 
”이 젊은이가 여기 레스토랑 손님인 모든 아들과 딸에게 교훈을, 모든 부모에게 희망을 남겨두고 가는구려. 고맙소이다.”
“This young man leaves a lesson for every son and daughter, and hope for all parents. Thank you”
 
 
부모님은 우리를 위해 모든 시간·돈·노력을 들이며 삶을 희생하신다. 언제나 부모님을 사랑하고, 존경하고, 보살펴드리자.
