세계 최고의 건강 식단으로 지중해식이 손꼽힌다. 지중해식은 채소 위주 식단으로, 동물성 단백질은 주로 생선·닭고기·요구르트 등으로 섭취하고, 지방은 올리브유로 보충한다. 그런데 최근 한류 바람을 타고 한국 밥상이 지중해식 못지않은 건강 식단으로 세계적 관심을 모으고 있다. 언감생심 고기 구경은커녕 하루 삼시 세끼 때우기도 힘들었던 시절에 온갖 식용 식물 끌어모아 배를 채우던 것이 지금은 건강식으로 각광받고 있는 것이다. 한국 식단이 주목받는 이유 하나는 전통적으로 채소, 곡물, 기름기 없는 단백질 위주인 데다 여러 종류의 반찬을 통해 다양한 영양소를 함께 섭취할 있기 때문이다. 갖가지 재료로 만들어진 반찬이 두루두루 균형 잡힌 식단을 구성해주는 역할을 한다.

The Mediterranean diet is vegetable-centered diet, in which animal protein is mainly consumed through fish, chicken, and yogurt, and fat is supplemented with olive oil. However, thanks to the recent Korean wave, Korean diet is gaining global attention as a healthy diet that is as good as the Mediterranean. Back in the days when Korean people struggled to secure three meals a day, they gathered all sorts of edible plants and made their dishes to fill up their own stomach, and it was now being spotlighted as healthy foods. One of the reasons Korean dishes are drawing attention is it is traditionally lean protein-based dishes with vegetable and grain. Also, it provides diverse nutrients through various kinds of side dishes. Side dishes made with various ingredients play a role in creating a well-rounded and balanced diet.

 

규칙적인 김치 소비도 몫을 한다. 배추· 채소를 다채로운 양념으로 버무리고 발효시킨 김치는 활생균, 비타민, 산화·노화 방지 물질이 풍부해 소화력을 촉진하고, 면역 체계를 강화해준다. 삼면이 바다로 둘러싸여 해산물을 많이 먹는 것도 비결이다. 특히 생선은 일상적인 식사의 부분을 차지하는 주식 하나다. 조개류, 낙지 한국인들이 좋아하는 다른 해산물 역시 맛도 좋고 영양가도 높아 최고의 건강식으로 꼽힌다. 녹차뿐 아니라 가정에서나 식당에서 흔히 마시는 보리차도 건강에 보탬이 된다. 차는 여러 건강상 이익을 주는 항산화 효과를 지니고 있을 아니라 신진대사와 수분 공급을 향상시켜준다. 외국의 음식 매체들은 한국인들이 비교적 적절한 몸매와 건강을 유지하는 데는 한국식 식단 외에 젓가락을 사용하는 식습관도 중요한 역할을 한다고 풀이한다. 번에 많은 양의 음식을 집어들 없어 자연스럽게 과식을 피하는데 도움을 준다는 분석이다.

Drinking green tea or barley tea also make a difference on health. Tea has antioxidant effect that has many health benefits, as well as improve metabolism and hydration. Foreign food magazines interpret that in addition to the Korean diet, eating habits of using chopsticks also play a significant role in helping Koreans maintain a relatively fit and healthy body. The analysis is that it helps avoid overeating naturally because one cannot pick up a large amount of food at once.
