전 세계에서 어느 나라의 여권으로 가장 많은 나라에 ‘무비자 입국’할 수 있을까? 2024년 1분기 한국 여권은 전 세계 193개 목적지에서 비자 발급 없이 여권만으로 입국이 가능해 세계 여권 지수 2위를 자랑했다. 1위는 프랑스, 독일, 이탈리아, 일본, 싱가포르, 스페인으로, 이들 국가의 여권 소지자는 194개 목적지로의 무비자 여행이 가능하다. 10일(현지시각) CNN은 영국 국제교류 전문업체 헨리앤드파트너스가 선정한 2024년 1분기 여권 지수를 공개했다. 헨리여권지수(HPI)는 국제항공운송협회(IATA) 자료를 바탕으로 특정 국가의 여권 소지자가 입국 전 비자 발급 없이 도착할 수 있는 국가가 몇 개국인지를 지수화한 것이다. HPI에 따르면, 지난 5년간 일본과 싱가포르가 1위를 차지해왔으나, 올해는 프랑스, 독일, 이탈리아, 스페인 등 유럽 국가들도 최상위권에 올랐다. 6개 국가가 한꺼번에 공동 1위에 오른 것은 2006년 지수 산출을 시작한 이래 처음이다.

 

Which country’s passport allows ‘visa-free entry’ to the most countries in the world? The Republic of Korea’s passport ranked 2nd in world passport index, allowing entry into 193 destinations around the world without visa issuance. France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain take the first place, and the passport holders  can travel visa-free access to 193 destinations. On the 10th (Local time), CNN released the passport index for the first quarter of 2024 as selected by Henry & Partners, a British specialized company for the international exchange. HPI(Henry passport index) is an index of how many countries a passport holder from a specific country are available for visiting, based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). According to the HPI, over the last 5 years, Japan and Singapore have taken first place, but from this year, European Countries, including France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, also ranked on the top of the chart. This is the first time since Henry & Partners began measuring the index in 2006 that six countries have tied for first place at the same time.

 

 

핀란드와 스웨덴은 193개 목적지로의 접근이 가능해 한국과 함께 2위에 올랐다. 지난해 하반기에 이 지수에서 3위(189개국)에 머물렀던 한국은 반년 만에 2위로 한 계단 상승했다.

이어 △3위 오스트리아, 덴마크, 아일랜드, 네덜란드(192개국) △4위 벨기에, 룩셈부르크, 노르웨이, 포르투갈, 영국 (191개국) △5위 그리스, 몰타, 스위스 (190개국) △6위 체코, 뉴질랜드, 폴란드 (189개국) △7위 캐나다, 헝가리, 미국 (188개국) △8위 에스토니아, 리투아니아 (187개국) △9위 라트비아, 슬로바키아, 슬로베니아(186개국) △10위 아이슬란드(185개국) 순이었다. 아랍에미리트는 지난 10년간 가장 큰 상승세를 보이며, 2014년 이후 106개 목적지가 추가되면서 올해 11위에 올랐다. 최하위 국가는 아프가니스탄으로, 비자 없이 여행할 수 있는 국가가 28개에 불과하다. 시리아(29개국·103위), 이라크(31개국·102위) 등도 최하위권이었다. 북한의 경우 42개국으로 방글라데시와 공동 97위였다.

 

Finland and Sweden ranked second on the list along with Korea, where the passport holders can access to 193 destinations. In the second half of the last year, the Republic of Korea stayed 3rd (189 countries) in the index, up a notch from third to second in half a year.

Continuing, 3rd place Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Netherland (192 countries), 4th place Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom (191 countries), 5th place Greece, Malta, Switzerland (190 countries), 6th place Czech Republic, New Zealand, Poland (189 countries), 7th place Canada, Hungary, USA (188 countries), 8th place Estonia, Lithuania (187 countries), 9th place Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia (186 countries), 10th place Iceland (185 countries). The United Arab Emirates recorded the highest rise over the past 10 years, as ranking 11th this year with additional 106 countries since the year of 2014. Afghanistan is ranked the lowest in the index, only 28 countries allow the visa-free entry. Syria (29 countries, 103rd), Iraq (31 countries, 102nd) are also at the bottom. In the case of North Korea, it ranked 97th with Bangladesh, 42 countries are available.

 

 

 

크리스티안 케일린 헨리앤드파트너스 의장은 여행의 자유가 늘어나는 추세임에도 상위권과 하위권 국가 사이의 이동 격차가 크다고 했다. 그는 “여행객이 비자 없이 접근할 수 있는 평균 목적지 수가 2006년 58개에서 2024년 111개로 두 배 가까이 증가했지만, 올해 1위 국가들과 최하위 아프가니스탄의 차이는 166개국으로 역대 가장 컸다”고 했다.

 

Christian Kälin, Chairman of Henry & Partners, said that in spite of the more travel freedom (freedom of movement), the global mobility gap between those at the top and bottom become wider than ever. He also noted “Although the average number of destinations that travelers are able to access has nearly doubled from 58 in 2006 to 111 in 2024, the gap between the top countries and Afghanistan at the bottom was the largest ever at 166 countries.”

Six countries have earned the title of the most powerful passports in 2024 - with all of them granting visa-free travel to 195 out of 227 destinations.

Four EU member states now share crown with Singapore and Japan as the number one passport in the quarterly Henley Passport Index. They are: Spain, Germany, France and Italy.

In second place are countries like South Korea, Finaland~ with visa-free aceess to 193 destinations.
